   Female genital mutilation  (FGM) is a traditional harmful practice that involves the partial or total removal of external female genitalia or other injury to female genital organs for non-medical reasons. It is estimated that more than 200 million girls and women alive toda y have undergone female genital mutilation in the countries where the practice is concentrated. In addition, every year an estimated 3 million girls are at risk of undergoing female genital mutilation, the majority of whom are cut before they turn 15 years old.   FGM has no health benefits. It can lead to immediate health risks, as well as long-term complications to women’s physical, mental and sexual health and well-being.    The practice is recognized internationally as a violation of human rights of girls and women and as an extreme form of gender discrimination, reflecting deep-rooted inequality between the sexes.  So many citizen of Nigeria are actually confused about the use of the name ''IPOB''. Well, Ipob simply means The Indigenous People  of Biafra.  Generally, all the 5 states in the southeastern Nigeria  are known as the Indigenous People of Biafra. The states are Enugu, Imo, Anambra, Ebonyi and Abia State. Everyone in this states is referred to as an Indigenous People of Biafra. For this reason anyone can easily use the name Ipob to create a group or form a local  security in the southeast.  There are many groups formed with the name ''Ipob'' but they are not in any way associated with the Separatist group. Uli Ipob community security is a typical example.This is a local vigilante security that have existed before the Separatist group was formed. Uli Ipob community security was founded in 2003 by youths of Uli. Their primary aim is to secure and protect the entire Uli community.
